In 2018, the global beard grooming market was valued at $24.1 billion, according to Business Wire. A decade ago, walking into a mall and discovering an entire store dedicated to beards and various assortments of facial hair products would have been an oddity. Now, beard businesses are popping up across the nation—even in Mapleton.

And the industry isn’t projected to slow down anytime soon. In fact, the beard grooming industry is anticipated to reach $43.1 billion by 2026.

A newly opened barbershop in Mapleton, Utah, is taking advantage of this booming grooming industry by specializing in beard products. It’s called Blade & Beard.

Wanting to discover for myself what all the beard-hype was about, I decided to take my 71-year-old father—a person who had never heard the term “manscaping” before—to Blade & Beard for a luxurious hot beard oil treatment and trim.

In addition to the trim, Blade gave some great advice about beard maintenance.

What’s the number one beard mistake people make? According to Blade, “[It’s] people using head shampoo in your beard.” You see, your head has more sebaceous glands than your face, so head shampoo is meant to strip away oil, which will dry out your beard.

Some other common beard mistakes include shaving too high on your neckline, neglecting your mustache, trimming too much too soon, and not using the proper product.

During his trim, my dad discovered the difference beard grooming can make. After the deep hydration and hot oil, he said about the experience, “I’ll be back in a week!”

And he’s not the only one impressed by Blade’s barber skills. Sarah Sutton shares, “My husband has been getting his haircut and occasional beard trims from Blade for several months now, and he always comes home looking fantastic! Blade does great work and I know my husband always feels confident after getting a haircut and beard trim by Blade!”

Jon Atchison adds, “This is the best group of beard products I have ever used!”

So, if you are interested in discovering what the beard grooming industry is all about, stop by Blade & Beard. As my dad says, “I think you ought to go try it.”
