It’s the 4th of July, while most people are heading to a parade, Mike and I look forward to avoiding the crowds and heading up American Fork Canyon to hike on one of our favorite trails!  The Deer Creek-Dry Creek trailhead starts just inside the Granite Flats Campground, you’ll see it on the right.  Be sure to park in the spots designated for the trail parking, if not you might find a ticket on your windshield upon your return.

The trail is about 8.5 miles long and connects on to 3 other trails if you’d like to go further. The first part of the hike has a canopy cover and the second part you’re pretty much exposed, so I wouldn’t recommend hiking that part of the trail on a hot sunny day.

What I love about this hike is that there are parts that are going to get your heart rate climbing and there there are part that are flat and give you a chance to really take in the beautiful surroundings…before the next climbing- heart raising stretch.

This hike is great for families, of course if they are too little Dad might end up with someone on his shoulders.  But let’s face it, kids have way more energy than most of us adults!

Depending on the time of the year, there might be a little creek or water you’ll need to navigate around.  Or a log you might need to climb over or under.  But that all adds to the adventure, right?

Hopefully we will see you one day while we are hiking this trail.  Remember to get out there and take advantage of this beautiful area we call home!

We're ready to help you
make the right move.
